Algonquin explodes in the fourth

The C.A. picture of the dayNorthborough/Southborough – Algonquin Regional High School (ARHS) senior attack Conor Healey (#1, left) works his way around the defense of St. John's High School's (SJ) defender Sean Wilson (#1, right) during their game April 7 at 911 Memorial Field in Marlborough. ARHS hosted St. John's for their first meeting since last year's Division II Central Mass Title game; ARHS won that game 10-9 in a thrilling overtime victory.
SJ graciously agreed to a poignant recognition of Northborough-Southborough Youth Lacrosse seventh-grader Eric Green, who passed away this past winter, by allowing ARHS to open the game with a single wingman for 13 seconds – Green's age at his death. SJ then proceeded to score first, but ARHS's Conor Healey scored the first of his five goals very quickly (he also had four assists). Both teams traded goals back-and-forth and were tied 7-7 in the fourth quarter, when ARHS exploded for four unanswered goals; the final score was 12-8 ARHS over SJ.
