Elizabeth Flanders, 88Northborough – Elizabeth “Betty” Sawyer Flanders, a lifelong resident of Northborough, passed away at the ripe old age of 88.

She attended Northborough High School, where she was a member of the traveling basketball team. Throughout her life, she enjoyed baking, music, dancing, and candlepin bowling at the family-owned Sawyer's Bowladrome. She grew up on Solomon Pond and raised her seven children there. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter; her two sisters, Phyllis Stone and Corrine Falardeau; and great-granddaughter, Nicole Smith.

Mrs. Flanders leaves behind her companion of 27 years, Al Boudreau; her sons, Jim Flanders and his wife, Pam, Dan Flanders, and Brian Flanders and his wife, Sharon; her daughters, Kathy Hawley and her husband, Ted, Janet Yellick and her husband, David, Sandy Arsenault and her husband, Allen, and Lisa Wheeler and her husband, Chip; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, with three on the way; a great-great-grandson on the way; her brother, Ernie and his wife, Evelyn, who were not only her neighbors, but great friends as well; and her sister, Virginia Jackson from Waldoboro, Maine.

The family would like to thank her home health aide, Christine, for her kindness and friendship.

At Mrs. Flanders’ request there will be no calling hours or funeral, so please stop and take a moment to think of a fond memory of her.
