Shrewsbury – Marianne Y. (Werneke) McCarthy, 57, formerly of Southborough, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Mass. General Hospital after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Hackensack, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Francis Werneke and Virginia (Kleinknecht) Werneke of New Jersey and a graduate of the former Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School of Boston.
Mrs. McCarthy worked as administrative assistant for several area businesses, but spent the last 10 years working for Courion Corp of Westborough as a financial specialist.
She enjoyed the Jersey shore, the ocean, fishing, reading, and playing scrabble. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her children, Sean McCarthy and his wife, Christina, of Southborough and Molly McCarthy and her significant other, Michael Hepfer, of Shrewsbury; and her siblings, Mark Werneke, Virginia Hlavenka, and Charles Werneke, all of New Jersey, and George McCarthy of Natick.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, April 30, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, May 1, at 11 a.m., at St. Matthew Church, Highland Street in Southborough. Burial will be private.
