An Evening for Bridget to benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer InstituteBoston – The fourth annual An Evening for Bridget presented by Alex and Ani, Inc. will be held Saturday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m., at the Ritz-Carlton. Created by friends of the late Bridget (Bomberger) Slotemaker, An Evening for Bridget will celebrate the life of this Massachusetts native and Boston College graduate.

The event will raise funds for the Program for Young Women with Breast Cancer, Dr. Ann Partridge's highly acclaimed breast cancer program at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Since inception, this event has raised and donated over $225,000 to Dana-Farber to support all of the “Young and Strong” women like Bridget who are bravely fighting cancer.

Slotemaker was diagnosed with stage IV cancer in May 2008 while pregnant with her second child. Her treatment was painful and exhausting, but because of her strength and determination, she was able to deliver her second baby prematurely. Her little girl, Chloe Faith, weighed only 1 lb 2 oz at birth. While Chloe was able to overcome her own serious challenges after being born prematurely, her mother unfortunately lost her battle. Slotemaker succumbed to the disease just three months and five days after receiving her diagnosis. She was only 35 years old. She is survived by her parents, Karen and Ron Bomberger; her brother, Adam Bomberger; her husband, Steve; and her daughters, Grace, 6 years old, and Chloe, 3 ½ years old.

An Evening for Bridget Presented by Alex and Ani, Inc. will include a cocktail reception, silent and live auctions, an Alex and Ani Bangle Bar featuring the Young and Strong Charm Bangle, and plenty of dancing (Slotemaker was a dancer herself, having performed on the Golden Eagle Dance Team at Boston College, and later with the Boston-based dance troupe Rainbow Tribe). The Alex and Ani Young and Strong Bangle representing faith, hope and determination honors the memory of Slotemaker. Currently scheduled as the evening emcee is WCVB-TV/DT Channel 5 reporter and breast cancer survivor, Kelley Tuthill.

Tickets are $125 per person and can be purchased at www.evening4bridget.org.
