Southborough – Trottier Middle School Art teacher Martha Bachman received a call from Mary Finn Elementary School art teacher Joyce Caras looking for a student-created mural to decorate a wall at Mary Finn. Bachman brought the idea up with the Mural Club, which meets after school on Wednesdays. Eighth-grade student Meghan Holmes answered the call, offering to design and paint a mural for the Finn School. The only requirements for the mural was that it be no bigger than 4 feet by 8 feet and that any words used be simple so that they could be easily read by the students.
“I used dolphins on the mural because there are dolphins on the Mary Finn School sign and around the school,” Meghan said.
Meghan has worked on the mural every Wednesday afternoon since mid-October; an estimated 39 hours in total. Hers will be the first mural made at Trottier to leave the school for placement at another.
