Westborough Community Land Trust thanks Earth Day cleanup participantsTo the Editor:

A hearty “thank you” to all those who participated in the April 21 Town-wide Earth Day Clean-up sponsored by the Westborough Community Land Trust. This year more than 150 bags of trash, the greatest number ever for Westborough, were collected. Explorer Post 85, Cub Scouts, Cadette Girl Scouts, a work team from H&R Environmental, as well as local families, joined in to pick up trash along town streets.

Bruce Tretter, the Coordinator of the Town Clean-up, deserves special thanks for his outstanding work in running the clean-up effort. Before the event, Bruce biked around town to identify areas needing clean up; then on Earth Day he assigned teams to specific sites. WCLT volunteers, including Elaine Moore, Janet Anderson, Kathy Leblanc, Allison Johnson Hall, Barbara Muise, Vivian Kimball, and Kris Allen also helped make the event a success. We also greatly appreciate the tremendous work of the Department of Public Works, particularly Don Gale and his crew, for their cooperation in picking up all the collected trash.

The Town-wide Clean-up is an important event for Westborough families, especially because this may be their children's first involvement in community service. The Westborough Community Land Trust is very grateful to the residents of Westborough for their participation—together, they made a tangible difference to protect the town's environment.

Sincerely,

John Metzger

WCLT President
