Westborough – Gertrude F. (Sis) Bushey, 82, of Westborough, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the UMass/Memorial Healthcare – University Hospital in Worcester. She was the wife of the late Gerald H. Bushey, who died in 1980.
Born in North Adams, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Gertrude (Carleton) Donovan. She was a 1946 graduate of St. Joseph's High School in North Adams and a 1950 graduate of the College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology.
Prior to her marriage, she was employed as a medical technologist at North Adams Hospital for several years.
Gert was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church and was currently the coordinator of Eucharistic Ministers. She was a member of St. Luke's Senior Adults, the Women of St. Luke's, the Martha's and Mary's and was a former CCD teacher. She was also a member of the Westborough Senior Center and worked the Westborough Election Polls.
She is survived by her four sons, David E. Bushey of Woodbridge, VA, Daniel J. Bushey and his wife, Caralyn, of Chevy Chase, MD, Timothy M. Bushey and his wife, Donna, of Macon, GA, and James C. Bushey and his wife, Paula, of Worcester; one sister, Patricia A. Welch and her husband, Thomas, of North Adams; and seven grandchildren, David Bushey and his wife Stephanie, Olivia Bushey, Phillip Bushey, Madeleine Bushey, Gerald Bushey, Paul Bushey and Nathaniel Bushey. She was predeceased by one great-grandchild, David Bushey Jr.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 18, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery. Calling hours at the Britton-Summers Funeral Home, 4 Church St., Westborough, are Thursday, May 17, from 4 to 7 p.m.
