Marlborough – Students in Alexia Forhan's biology classes at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School will be getting some exposure to advanced biology activities? through Forhan's acceptance and participation in the MIT Scheller Teacher Education Program and the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education Biograph program. Part of the study will involve using computer models and complex systems thinking on topics such as genetics, anatomy, ecology, and the chemistry of life.

Teachers from across the Boston-metro area were chosen for the Biograph team as part of a professional development program integrating complex systems and cutting-edge computer modeling tools into high school classrooms, with the guidance and assistance of MIT professionals.

Recently, Ilana Schoenfeld and Josh Sheldon, Research Managers from MIT's Scheller Teacher Education Program, made their first visit to Forhan's freshman biology class at Assabet, guiding the class through some computer simulations.
