Marlborough – How many high school students can boast of actually building their own classroom from the foundation up? Quite a few, if you take a poll of Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School students! Recently, the seniors in several building trades made a final visit to the classroom they'se been using throughout the school year at 61 Emmett St. in Marlborough.

Through the auspices of the Community Development Authority in Marlborough, a condemned home was razed and the school took over from the new foundation. Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical Wiring, Painting and Design, and Metal Fabrication students all shared in the excitement of seeing their handiwork become reality. The home will be listed and hopefully sold in the coming weeks.

Marlborough Mayor Arthur Vigeant made a visit to the site this past week to thank a group of seniors from several of the programs.

“The city wants to thank you for all of your hard work,” he shouted to the group, “We'se looking for another house for Assabet to build next year!,” he continued as the students cheered.

Anyone who has an idea or a proposal for the construction trades of Assabet Valley for the next school year should contact Russ Mangsen, the Director of Technical Programs at the school, or Pat Collins, Assistant Superintendent/Business Manager, for details on how the projects are chosen.
