Carly, When did you start playing lacrosse?

“I started playing lacrosse in fourth grade and then played with a club team in seventh grade. I love playing a lot of different sports, including soccer and basketball, but lacrosse is my favorite and comes most naturally to me.”

Who has inspired you the most?

“My parents have been very supportive of my lacrosse. They pushed me to strive to do my best. They come to all of my games and cheer me on. My cousins and my sister play lacrosse, and I have attended many of their games. I guess that lacrosse runs in my family.”

What has been your most memorable moment?

“I would have to say that when I played in the Central Mass District final as a freshman. It was fun to play in a stadium surrounded by my family and friends. It was my best game.”

How do you manage sports and academics?

“I think that playing sports actually makes it easier to manage academics, because you only have a certain amount of time to get your work done between practices and games. Participating in sports helps you to manage your time better, and the scholarship potential pushed me to get better grades.”

What skills do you need to be an effective lacrosse player?

“I think that it helps to be fast and knowing how to handle situations on the field. It is a pretty physical game especially when it gets to the club level, so strength and endurance is key.”

Do you have any advice to younger athletes?

“If you want to be good at something, you need to practice and give it 100 percent. Training in the off-season is also important to keep up your skills. Try not to get down on yourself if you have a bad game, make adjustments and do better the next game. Even though it may seem hard at times, believe in yourself and never give up.”

Do you train in the off-season?

“Yes, I train all-year round. I started lifting weights and it helps me in game situations. I believe that weight training helps not only with muscle strength, but also helps build muscle memory.”

What are your goals for this year?

“Hopefully we can win the Central Mass Districts this year. We have a lot of potential on our team and I think that we can go all the way.? My personal goal is to reach 500 goals because it has only been done by? seven people nationally. I need 141 more goals to achieve this.”

What are your plans for next year?

“I am going to be attending the University of Oregon on a full-ride lacrosse scholarship.”
