Shrewsbury – In an attempt to reduce its continuing financial loss, the United States Postal Service (USPS) is in the process of closing postal facilities across the nation. The Central Massachusetts Processing and Distribution Center, located in Shrewsbury, was on the list of those tentatively scheduled to be shut down this year, leaving approximately 500 employees without jobs.

However, in a surprise move, it was announced last week that the closing has been delayed until 2014, when nearly 90 other USPS facilities have been slated to close their doors.
