Shrewsbury to host ‘Walkable Community Workshop’Shrewsbury – The town of Shrewsbury has been selected to participate in the Walkable Communities Initiative, a program funded by the Central Massachusetts Metropolitan Planning Organization (CMMPO).

The initiative, according to CMMPO officials, is to help make communities in the region more pedestrian and bicycle friendly.

Residents are invited to participate in a workshop to be held at the Shrewsbury Town Hall, Thursday, June 21 from 3 to 6 p.m.

At the workshop, things discussed will include: successful pedestrian design, safety, education, enforcement, and encouragement. The Maple Avenue corridor will be studied in relation to these concepts and residents will take a walking audit of the area to help understand and identify obstacles. ?Short and long-term solutions will be discussed as well.

Participants are requested to wear comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for the weather that day.
