Hudson students win awards at Science Fairs

Hudson – Hudson High School's (HHS) Haley Nelson received an honorable mention award at the Worcester Regional Science Fair at Worcester Polytechnic Institute March 9, and a third-place award in the State Science Fair held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology May 4 and 5. Haley got a $25 award at Regionals and a $20,000 scholarship ($5,000 a year for four years) at U Mass-Lowell if she attends. This is Haley's second year participating at Regionals and States. Her engineering project was “Re-Working Water Working.”

Two other HHS student seniors, Kathryn Volk and Shannon Hogan, received a third-place award at the Regional Fair and an honorable mention at the State Science Fair. They won $100 at the Regional Fair and a book award at States. Volk and Hogan have participated and have won at both Regionals and States for three years. Their environmental science project was “Gray water Green house.”
