Region ?Today is Monday, June 11, the 163rd day of 2012. If you lived in Hawaii, you would be celebrating Kamehameha Day today. The holiday honors ?Kamehameha the Great, the monarch who first established the unified Kingdom of Hawai?i ??” comprising the Hawaiian Islands of Ni?ihau, Kaua?i, O?ahu, Moloka?i, L?na?i, Kaho?olawe, Maui and Hawai?i.
On this day in 1970, Anna May Hays and Elizabeth P. Hoisington became the first two female U.S. Army Generals.
On this day in 1981 a devastating earthquake registering 6.9 on the Richter scale killed 2000 people in Golbaf, Iran.
And on this day in 2001, Timothy McVeigh was executed for his role in the attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995. The act of terrorism, the deadliest on U.S. soil until the 9/11 attacks, killed 168 people and injured over 800 people.
Today's birthdays include – actor Hugh Laurie (1959), Dr. Mehmet Oz (1951) and two football icons, Joe Montana (1956) and the late Vince Lombardi (1913).

1. The city of Marlborough Cemeteries Division will be conducting a general cleanup of all city cemeteries.? All flowers, decorations or other ornamentation are to be removed by Wednesday, June 13.
