Margaret J. Orcutt-White, 60Worcester – Margaret J. Orcutt-White, 60 of Worcester, Director of Family Support for Why Me – Sherry's House and Jason's mom, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Sherry's House in Worcester.

Born and raised in Marlborough, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Orcutt and the late Jeannette (Dupuis) (Orcutt ) Williams.

Following the death of her son, Jason, in 1983, Margaret was drawn to help other families during their difficult times. Her compassion, warmth, and ability to give tirelessly of herself made those around her feel “safe” and not alone in their pain. She was the heart and soul of Why Me and had endearingly been referred to as their Mother Theresa, for she brought light and love to all she touched. She faced her illness the past two years the way she lived, with dignity and grace. She fought like a warrior and earned her wings.

Her presence will be greatly missed and no one will be able to replace her, but her mission and message will always be carried forward by those who were fortunate to know her.

She is survived by her children, Little Henry White and his wife Nicole of Harwichport and Jeannette White-Holmes and her husband Tim of Uxbridge; her sisters, Jeanne Gallagher and her husband Bill of Searl Beach, CA and Betty Griffin and her husband Billy of Marlborough; her grandchildren, Max White-Cohen, Colin Holmes, Jason Kline, Taylor Blair, and T.J.Blair; and her aunts, uncle, and many cousins nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 18, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 19, at 10 a.m., at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 151 Mendon St., Upton. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery of Upton.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Margaret White Family Endowment, Why ME-Sherry's Place, 1152, Pleasant St., Worcester, MA 01602. This fund will benefit the organization's Children's Comfort Fund and Family Financial Assistance.
