Robert S. Giles, 72Robert S. Giles, 72Northborough – Robert S. Giles, 72, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 after a nine-month courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Charlotte A. (Regnier), who died in 2001.

He leaves his daughter, Christine Davison and her husband, George, of Franklin; his son, Kenneth Giles and his wife, Terry, of Northborough; six grandchildren, Lindsay Sinclair, Samuel Sinclair, Joseph Sinclair, Olivia Giles, Jennifer Davison, and Sarah Davison; one great-grandson, Samuel Sinclair; and two sisters, Sue Bermudez of New Hampshire and Jean Ordonez of Florida. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Giles.

Born in Marlborough, son of the late Stuart I. and Norma E. (Sprott) Giles, he attended Marlborough High School and graduated from WPI.

For 43 years, Bob worked for Raytheon Corp. in Waltham as an engineer and spent two of those years as an instructional teacher for guided missile systems. He served in the Massachusetts National Guard for many years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Bob was currently serving as Commander for the Northborough American Legion Post #234. He was a member of the Northborough Lions Club and was honored “Man of the Year” in 2012. Bob was also an active member in the Northborough Senior Center, Habitat for Humanity, and Founder and member of Northborough Wind Turbine Committee.

Calling hours will be held Friday, June 22, from 5 to 8 p.m., in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. His funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 23, at 12 p.m., in St. Bernadette Church, 266 Main St., Northborough. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Marlborough.
