Region – Today is Friday, June 22, the 173rd day of 2012. On this day in 2011, after 16 years on the lam, the notorious Boston mobster James “Whitey” Bulgur was finally found and arrested in California. Bulgur, who was arrested with his girlfriend Catherine Greig, is currently in a Plymouth, MA jail awaiting trial, although many suspect that event will never occur.
On this day in 2009 the Eastman Kodak Company announced that after 74 years, it would no longer be ?selling Kodachrome Color Film.
And on this day in 2008, the world of comedy lost a legend when George Carlin died of heart failure. Although he had much success, he is perhaps best known for his routine “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television,” which was featured on his third album.
Celebrating a birthday today is Kris Kristofferson (1936); Meryl Streep (1949) and Cyndi Lauper (1953).
