Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen approved change of license requests for two local restaurants at its June 26 meeting.
The board voted to approve a change of license for Bauhinia, Inc., d/b/a Bauhinia Restaurant, 271 Grafton Street, Shrewsbury, submitted by Kin Shing Wong, manager, regarding the transfer of stock to him from his former business associate. This request also asked for approval of the All Alcoholic Beverages Pouring License and Common Victualler's License to be transferred. Wong said he is asking for no other changes. The board approved both requests.
An application from Jeffrey A. Paquette, Manager, JAP II, Inc. d/b/a Elsa's Eatery, 33 Boston Turnpike, was also approved. Paquette had requested the transfer of the All Alcoholic Beverages Pouring License from Elsa's Eatery, Inc., with the change in ownership from Jon M. Oliveri, as well as transfer of a Common Victualler's License. Hours of operation will be changed to Monday to Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.; Friday to Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight; and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In other business, Selectman Moira Miller announced that she had spoken with people involved in the June 21 Walkable Community Workshop and that she wished to note her support for that effort. Selectman John Lebeaux voiced his approval of community volunteer work being done regarding roadway improvements. And Chair Maurice DePalo was happy to recognize Fire Captain Seth Colby's retirement after a long and successful career.
The board also adopted the proposed selectmen's meeting schedule for July through December, 2012. It reappointed Donald R. Gray, 26 High Street, as a member of the Historic District Commission for a term of three years expiring June 30, 2015 and reappointed Daniel Cormier as constable for a one-year term to expire June 30, 2013.
