Framingham – Mabel M. (Trioli) Pugni, 103, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Countryside Nursing Home in Framingham. She was the wife of the late Joseph Pugni, who died in 1973.
Born in Clinton, she was the seventh child of the late John and Clementine (Gordani) Trioli. She moved to Fayville during her childhood, where she resided most of her life. She was the last member of the original Trioli family of Southborough.
Mabel attended the former Peter's High School in Southborough and was a graduate of the former Fannie Farmer's Cooking School in Boston. She worked for Fay School in the culinary department as a pastry chief and while school was on vacation she worked in Wells, Maine as a cook at the hotels, for the tourists.
When she was 92, she battled and won the fight against breast cancer. At 98, she decided that she was “getting old” and needed living assistance. So, she chose to enjoy the rest of her days at the Countryside Nursing Home.
She was an avid lover of cats, gardening, traveling, shopping, cooking, walking, and giving “words of wisdom.” She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Never having any children of her own, she was known to never forget to send a Christmas or birthday card to her nieces and nephews, which carried on to the generations of her great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Mabel is leaving behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and many generations of relatives, as well as friends and countless funny memories.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, July 2, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Church, Highland Street in Southborough. Burial will be in the Southborough Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Countryside Nursing Home, 153 Winter St., Framingham, MA 01702.
