What made you first get involved in track?
“I first got involved in track because all of my friends from football were on the team. I just did it to stay in shape.”
Which season of track has been the most special so far?
“My favorite year of track was this year, my second year on the team, because I had a good coach, and a few good friends of mine on the team. I worked hard to get better, and it worked.”
What was it like to win the “200” at the State Championship race for the second straight year?
“Winning it again was fun. I really expected it from myself, and had it in my head that I wasn's going to give up my title. It was a lot closer than I thought though. Much better competition this year, so winning pumped me up.”
What part of track is your favorite?
“My favorite part of track is running the 200 because I know how to run it. I know when and where to do certain things, and I can just go out there and do it. It just comes easy to me, and feels right.”
How has Coach Botelho helped encourage you to succeed?
“He encouraged me by giving life lessons almost every time we practiced. He taught me to believe in myself, and strive for my best. He would push me during every workout. He knew my limit and pushed me right to it. He became my friend as well as my coach.”
What is your favorite sport/extracurricular activity at Hudson High?
“I also play football, and that is my favorite sport to play.”
Who is your favorite Olympic runner/athlete?
“My favorite Olympic runner is American sprinter Tyson Gay.”
What is your favorite class in school?
“My favorite class in school would either be psychology or anatomy, because I like seeing how the body functions. I like to know how people work physically, as well as mentally.
What do you want your legacy at Hudson High to be?
“I want people to remember me as the kid that worked really hard for what he got. And when they look in the record books, they'sl see hard work pays off.”
