Shrewsbury Public Library, Parks and Rec offer Story Walk at Jordan Pond

ShrewsburyUPDATE: Sadly, due to vandalism, the story walk has been canceled for this year.

The Friends of the Shrewsbury Public Library and the Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation Department have joined forces to create a “Story Walk” for children and families at Jordan Pond. Stroll the one-third of a mile, paved walking trail around Jordan Pond and enjoy a reading of Sheep Take a Hike by Nancy Shaw.

At a series of stops along the way, children will enjoy subsequent pages of the misadventures of the three silly sheep, charmingly illustrated by Margot Apple. Families will delight in the rhyming text and many children will recognize the seagull friend that shadows the sheep on their adventure. Those who walk the entire loop will find a delightful surprise ending for this story.

The Jordan Pond trail is open dusk to dawn, and the story begins at the Ridgeland Road Entrance. The Story Walk will run July 16 through 20.
