Mary Dion, 87Marlborough – Mary (Misener) Dion, 87, of Marlborough, died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Marlborough Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born and raised in Southborough, she was the daughter of the late Laurence and Hilda (Cody) Misener and the wife of Nelson J. Dion Sr. of Marlborough, to whom she had been married for the past 69 years.

She retired in 1990 from Atkins & Merrill, where she had been employed as a laminator. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Marlborough, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Marlborough Hospital Auxiliary, and was a Poll worker. As an active participant at the Marlborough Senior Center, she served as a greeter and was an enthusiastic member of the bowling team. She had been a member of the former St. Mary's Parish of Marlborough.

Mary had a great sense of humor, was extremely patient, and enjoyed people watching. Her wish was to be remembered as a good wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Nelson J. Dion Jr. and his significant other, Sharon Paton, of Moultonboro, NH; her daughters, Suzanne Loureiro and her husband, Jerrold, of Chandler, AZ, Claudette Dion of Marlborough, Cheryl Simmons and her husband, Curtis, of Maui, Hawaii, and Michelle Lariviere and her husband, Martin, of Marlborough: her sisters, Catherine Kane of Marlborough, Margaret Bateman of Sterling, Dorothy Santella of Florida, Bea Ginga of Southborough, and Josephine Williams of Marlborough; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Mary Dion Cole and the sister of the late John Misener, who died June 9, 2012.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 10, at 11:00 am, at the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Beach Street in Marlborough. Visiting hours will be held Monday, July 9, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough.
