Southborough – William “Bill” L. Stapleton, 83, a long-time and well-known resident of Southborough, died Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Westborough. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Marianne S. (Barth) Stapleton for 59 years.
In his youth, Bill raced flat head Fords and flat track motorcycles on the Eastern Circuit. He was the owner and operator of the former Bill & Larry's Texaco, Inc. in Nobscot (then dba Southboro Mobil in Southborough), where he spent many hours running a successful full automotive repair facility.
Bill was dedicated to his family and will be remembered by many as a terrific teacher, wonderful father and a great friend, always ready with a quip and a smile that set the world aright.
In addition to his wife he leaves his children, William L. Stapleton Jr. and his wife, Kristin, of Southborough; Laura McPherson? and her husband, Kirk, of Old Lyme, CT; Linda Derosier and her husband, Jay, of Shrewsbury; Leslie Tassé and her husband, John, of Ballston Spa, NY; Lisa Stapleton of Boxford; Lorraine Charman and her husband, John, of Atlanta, GA; and Will Colon of Worcester. He also leaves 12 grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, July 9, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough. Burial and funeral will be private.
