Fruitlands Museum to host author Heather Lang July 14Harvard – Fruitlands has announced that author Heather Lang will be on hand at the newly updated Fruitlands Museum Store Saturday, July 14, from 1 to 3 p.m., to sign and read from her recently released children's book, Queen of the Track.

The inspirational picture book details the challenges and triumphs of Alice Coachman, who became the first African-American woman to win a gold medal at the Olympics when she took top honors in the high-jump at the 1948 London games. The book is illustrated by Floyd Cooper.

The reading will take place at the Fruitlands Museum Store, which recently underwent a number of changes, including expanding the children's literature section. In addition, Fruitlands has partnered with the Worcester Center for Crafts to feature works by local artists in the store.

Fuitlands Museum is located at 102 Prospect Hill Rd., Harvard. Museum admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and college students, $5 for children 5-13, and free for kids under 5 and museum members.
