Marlborough – On Monday, July 16, more than 175 golfers and volunteers will join together for the milestone 20th Annual R.F. Wood Kids Classic Golf Tournament? and raise much needed funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest (BGMW).

The late R.F. Wood was a long-time resident of Hudson, and a supporter of many children's programs, especially BGMW. The organization serves over 3,500 children in greater Marlborough, Hudson and Framingham each year, with quality out-of-school programs.

The tournament, presented by DCU for Kids, will once again be held at the Marlborough Country Club. Golfers will enjoy 18 holes of golf, lunch on the course provided by Panera Bread of Marlborough, and a cocktail reception and dinner sponsored by Framingham Co-operative Bank. There will also be the opportunity to participate in raffles, betting holes and contests throughout the day, including a Hole in One contest with a prize of a three- year lease on a 2012 Nissan Altima donated by Marlboro Nissan.

Jeff Wood, Jr.?is R.F. Wood's grandson.

“As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the R.F. Wood Kids Classic, on behalf of the Wood Family, I would like to?thank [everyone] for [their] continued support and?dedication in supporting the Boys and Girls Clubs of MetroWest,” Jeff said.?”It not only means a lot to the children of our community, but would also make my grandfather very?proud.?I look forward to another beautiful day on the golf course with family, friends and supporters?to raise money for a great cause.”

Each year BGMW presents the R.F. Wood Award to an individual who represents the qualities that R.F. Wood valued including outstanding dedication and volunteerism for the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest. This year's honoree is Hudson businessman Donald Garcia of Boyd Coatings Research Co., Inc.

Fran Hurley is president of the BGMW.

“Don is a tremendous friend of the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest and we are very pleased to be honoring him with the R.F. Wood Award in this special 20th year,” Hurley said.
