Francis J. Venincasa, 80Worcester – Francis J. Venincasa, 80, passed away in his home Tuesday, July 17, 2012, from cancer. He was born Feb. 14, 1932 in Worcester, to the late Antonio and Katherine (Romeo) Venincasa.

He leaves his wife, Katherine Hamelin; two sons, Steven F. Venincasa and Michael J. Venincasa, both of Westborough; five grandchildren, Angela, Julie, Alyssa, Jessica, and James Venincasa; one great-grandson, Brody James Venincasa; a sister, Gloria Talbot of Worcester; a brother, Alfred Venincasa of Sutton; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Donald, Paul and Anthony Venincasa, and a grandson, Joseph S. Venincasa.

Francis served in the United States Army in Alaska during the Korean Conflict. He was a local builder for many years and, along with his son, co-owned and operated CASA Builders & Developers. Since retiring, he had developed land and built homes with his devoted friend, Michael McGovern of Sutton, and volunteered time to his favorite charity, Soles4Souls, a shoe charity founded by his dear friend, Wayne Elsey of Orlando, Florida.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, July 21, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m., in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. A funeral service will commence at noon in the funeral home, immediately following visitation.
