Shrewsbury ?To prevent energy costs from soaring along with recent temperatures, Shrewsbury Electric & Cable Operations (SELCO), the town's electricity supplier, has asked residents to “Beat the Peak” by reducing energy during peak usage hours (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.). This is the time when demand is highest and so is the cost for electricity.
To comply with the request, residents are being asked to keep air conditioner settings at 72 degrees or higher and delay laundry and other electricity-consuming tasks until after 8 p.m.
