Southborough – Norma L. (Merrills) Sora, 90, of Southborough, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012 at St. Camillus Health Center in Whitinsville, after a period of declining health.
She was the devoted wife of Peter L. Sora for the past 67 years.
Norma was a nurse at Countryside Nursing Home in Framingham for many years. She was a member of St. Matthew Church in Southborough, where she taught CCD. She was also a member of Southborough Catholic Women's Club and their bowling league. She enjoyed shopping, bingo and roller skating in her younger days.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Carol Cook and her husband, Donald, of Mendon; Peter Sora and his wife, Gail, of Londonderry, N.H.; Rosemary McGowan and her husband, Leo, of Milford; and Brian Sora and his wife, Ellen, of Sutton. She also leaves her gandchildren, Steven and Timothy Cook, Carlo Macchi and Melissa Kapatoes, Kelly Viera, Patrick McGowan, Rachel Nieminen, and Brian Sora; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, LCPL Peter “PJ” Sora Jr., and her sister, Virginia Gray.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Aug. 21, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St. Southborough. A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m., at St. Matthew Church, Highland Street in Southborough. Burial will follow in the Southborough Rural Cemetery.
