Visit three groups at one booth Sept. 15 during Ashland DayAshland – On Saturday, Sept. 15, Ashland Community Gardens, Ashland Farmers Market, and Transition Ashland will host a one-stop tent on Ashland Day, where visitors can get more information on future plans, sign up for newsletters and the garden bed waitlist, and purchase Grounds Around Town buckets. Ashland Day, an annual town celebration bringing hundreds to Stone Park, is set to begin at 9 a.m. and run to 4 p.m.

Also new this year, there will be a free seniors van, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., bringing people between the downtown farmers” market to Ashland Community Gardens at Stone Park, just a short walk to the Ashland Day tents and other activities.

In addition to Ashland Day at Stone Park, other activities include tours and activities for kids and adults from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ashland Community Gardens, behind the gazebo. Visitors will also be able to view artwork inspired by the gardens and the butterfly garden brimming with colorful perennials and annuals. Families can tour 56 garden beds, and see how the old tennis courts have been transformed into a colorful, productive organic vegetable and flower garden. At both the booth and garden site, Ashland residents can sign up to be on the waiting list for a garden bed in 2012 for the Stone Park garden and possibly for a larger in-ground garden, which ACG hopes to establish in the spring of 2013.

And, the Ashland Farmers Market, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 125 Front St., will feature Patti of On the Edge Knife Sharpening; Kabob House with Mediterranean delights; and rubs and salsas from Hedige's Hot Stuff.? Ashland's own rising star, Jesse Hanson, will join music friends on the World Foragers Stage.
