Region – Today is Friday, Sept. 14, the 258th day of 2012.
On this day in 1982, Princess Grace of Monaco was killed when her car plunged off a mountainside near Monte Carlo. The princess was, of course, the former American film star Grace Kelly.
On this day in 1927, dancer Isadora Duncan was killed in Nice, France when the long scarf she was wearing got caught in the spokes of her car's wheels and strangled her.
And on this day in 1975, the first American saint, Elizabeth Ann Seton, is canonized by Pope Paul VI.
Today's birthdays – the late Amy Winehouse (1983); Clayton Moore, the late actor known for his role as the Lone Ranger (1914); and Star Trek actor Walter Koenig (1936).
