Westborough – They may have their Girl Scout Silver Awards in hand, but Westborough Girl Scouts Kaleigh Wright and Bhargavi Ram remain committed to bringing ReFoamIt to town to collect PS 6 Styrofoam. After a hugely successful inaugural collection in March, the girls have arranged for Westborough's second collection, scheduled for Saturday, September 29, from 7:30 a.m. to noon, at the DPW, 131 Oak St.

“This event will be a little different this time,” said Wright. “It's for Westborough residents only. Big thanks to the Westborough Board of Health, who are sponsoring us this time. We’re holding the event with the annual Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Day at the Department of Public Works.”

The girls are eager to keep Styrofoam out of landfills because it takes hundreds of years to decompose, if it does at all.

“When we made our Silver Award plan, we committed to ensuring that ReFoamIt comes to Westborough at least twice a year for five years,” said Ram.

ReFoamIt will accept all PS 6 Styrofoam, including egg cartons, packing blocks/peanuts, take-out containers, produce trays, coolers, coffee cups…any Styrofoam piece that has a PS 6 on it.
