An educator for the past 32 years, he was employed as a teacher of Technology/Engineering, grade 7, at the 1LT Charles W. Whitcomb Middle School in Marlborough.
Born and raised in Hyde Park, Mr. White was the son of Pauline M. (Ventola) White of Hyde Park and the late Anthony F. White. A graduate of Boston Technical High School, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Education-Industrial Arts in 1981 and Master of Education in Technical Engineering in 2005 from Fitchburg State University.
He always had a project in progress, whether auto repair or woodworking. An educator in and outside of the classroom, he combined traditional industrial art techniques with current technology. He enjoyed many cross country road trips in his motor home with his fiancée, Patti, and beloved corgis, Gizmo and Laci. In addition to his teaching career, a job he truly enjoyed, he was employed for many years as a machinist at Faso Machine Shop in Waltham.
He was a member of the Technology Education Association of MA and the international Technology Education Association.
Besides his mother he is survived by his fiancée, Patricia Michaelian of Marlborough; his brother, Robert White Sr. and his wife Susan of Franklin; his sisters, Susan McGowan and her husband Brian of Mendon and Linda Kelly and her husband Vincent of Mansfield; and his nephews and nieces, Robert Jr. and Jennifer White, Michael and Brendan McGowan, and Amanda and Brianna Kelly.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m., at St. Matthias Church, 400 Hemenway St., Marlborough. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, 45 Fairview Ave., Hyde Park.
