Westborough – Designer Jewelers has announced that it is participating in the U.S Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program this holiday season. And for every unwrapped new toy brought into the store, the store will match with another donation.
Designer Jewelers, a family-owned business, is located at 18 Lyman St., in the Westboro Shopping Center. Those interested may drop a new, unwrapped toy off at the store anytime Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations will be accepted up until Dec. 15.
Over the years, the Marines have established close working relationships with social welfare agencies, churches and other local community agencies who are well-qualified to identify children in need.
Local toy collection campaigns begin in October and last until mid-to- late December. Members of the community are asked to drop new, unwrapped toys in collection in boxes positioned in local businesses. With the help of the community-based organizations, toy distribution then takes place mid-to-late December. While Toys for Tots Coordinators organize, coordinate and manage the campaign, the ultimate success depends on the support of the local community and the generosity of the people who donate toys.
