Westborough??”When designing the office for her new dental practice, Dr. Chelsea Perry chose to “focus on what makes people feel comfortable, calm and at ease.”

She also equipped the space with state-of-the-art dental technology and offers all dental services at her office.

The result is Elite Dental Care, which opened in November in the Westborough Shopping Center at the intersection of Route 9 and Lyman Street.

“We want people to have a good experience, to go from fear of the dentist to “I love my dentist”,” said Perry, who did her undergraduate work at Indiana University and graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2009.

The attention to her patients” comfort starts in the waiting room where the staff greets patients, there is free coffee and hot cocoa, and all the patient paperwork is filled out on iPads.

The leather dental chairs feature heat and massage.

“It's like being at a spa, except for the dentist sitting next to you,” Perry said with a laugh.

Televisions are mounted high on the walls for patients to watch during dental procedures. The noise-cancelling headphones can also be tuned to music, to drown out the noise of the drill and to distract from what's happening in the mouth.

“You can bring your own playlist on your iPod,” Perry added.

The office uses the newest, quietest drills on the market, electric ones rather than the older air-driven drills, Perry noted.

On the technical side, Elite Dental Care uses only digital X-ray equipment, which reduces radiation exposure by 90 percent compared to non-digital equipment, and Perry has added a positioning system that reduces the X-ray “scatter” even further. Digital X-rays also permit better diagnoses because the dentist can zoom in on suspect areas.

“We are committed to keeping radiation exposure as low as is reasonably achievable,” Perry said. “And we do X-rays only when they are needed, not just routinely.”

She can make crowns in only one visit. She takes a digital impression of the tooth and makes the solid porcelain crown immediately. The Cerec crowns carry a lifetime guarantee.

“The patient leaves with a permanent crown and can eat right away.

“This technology is a great investment, and we know it's worthwhile. Everyone's time is valuable,” she said.

Perry also does tooth implants, which, she said, “allow people to regain function and eliminate bridges and dentures. You can have your teeth back.”

Invisalign clear plastic braces and Zoom teeth whitening are other services that Perry offers.

Elite Dental Care caters to both adults and children.

“I love kids,” Perry said, and she recommends parents bring their toddlers in for a checkup as soon as the first tooth appears so they can get used to seeing a dentist and grow up having good dental experiences.

For adults and children who are very anxious about dental visits, Perry offers sedation using nitrous oxide??””laughing gas”??”to calm them, and works to mitigate the factors that trigger their dental anxieties.

Elite Dental Care is open six days a week, Monday and Tuesday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additional information is available on the website www.edcwestborough.com, or by calling 508-366-8808. The office is located in the J&N Professional Building at 18 Lyman St., Westborough, in the Westborough Shopping Center.
