Marlborough – Mariette J. Vigeant (Bolduc), 82, of Marlborough, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Devoted wife of the late Paul Vigeant, Mariette leaves her six daughters, Roxanne O’Connell, Elise Vigeant, Celeste Sargent, Andree Vigeant, Camille Vigeant, and Monique Vigeant; her sons-in-law Robbie O’Connell, Duncan Sargent and Steve Kemper; her grandchildren Paul, Catherine, Declan, Owen, Danielle, Amanda, Samantha, Laurel and Peter: and her great-grandchildren Aiden and Sofia Carrara and Roland Pino; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was born in Springfield, MA, daughter of Odias and Marie-Rose (Breton) Bolduc of Quebec, Canada. She graduated from St. Anne's Academy before earning her degrees from Anna Marie College and Curry College.
She spent many years as a Diagnostic Prescriptive Teacher at the Peter Noyes School in Sudbury. She was an ardent advocate for the mentally challenged and a founder of Greater Marlboro Programs in the early 1970's. She became a passionate sailor in 1974 when she and her husband Paul bought their first boat. For over 35 years the sailed from Sesuit Harbor in East Dennis, their summer home. An avid reader and researcher, she was a lifelong learner and world traveler sending home pictures of herself parasailing and riding camels to the delight of her many, many friends.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 11:00 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. A weekend memorial celebration of her life will be held in East Dennis in June 2013. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough.
