Shrewsbury – Although it has only been in the neighborhood a little over a month, the Fallon Community Health Care (FCHC) Information Center in the White City Shopping Center has already proven itself to be a good neighbor.? On Dec. 10 the center donated $3,500 worth of gift cards to St. Anne's Church after hearing how toys and gift cards had been stolen from the church the prior week.
The center is located just minutes away from the church's Turnpike Road (Route 9) location. Kim Salmon, the center's director of community relations, said her team was saddened to hear of the misfortune that had befallen their neighbors.
“Everyone was asking, “what can we do?”” she said.
The company had heard that toy donations were coming in, she said, especially from toy giant Hasbro. After speaking to church officials, Salmon said, a decision was made by FCHC to purchase gift cards to replace ones that had been stolen. All told, $3,500 of cards to Kohl's, Walmart and and Price Chopper were purchased and donated to the church.
“We thought this would be a great way to help people purchase items that they need like winter coats and groceries,” Salmon said.
“We know things are still so challenging out there for so many,” she added. “There's so much need. We'se glad we could help out the church in this way.”
