Fundraiser will honor memory of Lizzi Marriott

Westborough – The Westborough Athletic and Social Association (WASA) has announced it will sponsor “A Night in Remembrance of Lizzi Marriott” Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at the Acacia at Indian Meadows Country Club, in Westborough. The event will include refreshments, auctions, raffles, and music and dancing to the central Mass. band, “Outta Commission.”

Marriott, a Westborough native, was a student at the University of New Hampshire when she was allegedly killed by a Dover, NH man in October. She was studying Marine Science at the school, which was her passion, her family said. Previously to starting college, she had volunteered many hours at the New England Aquarium.

Proceeds from the event will benefit a fund her family has established?in her memory, the?”Lizzi Marriott Intrepid Explorer Fund”.

The fund is a registered 501 (C) (3) non – profit, tax-exempt charitable organization. According to the website, www.rememberlizzi.org, annual scholarships will be awarded to young adults who are “looking to embrace an education and life working in Marine Sciences.” ?Preference will be given to Westborough High School graduates, volunteers at the New England Aquarium and University of New Hampshire students studying Marine Sciences.

Tickets to the event are $25 and may be purchased at different locations throughout town including Central House, Curry Printing, JP”S Restaurant, Sapporo Korean BBQ & Sushi Restaurant, Westboro House of Pizza and Love Those Nails. Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the event.

WASA in an organization of 50 Westborough individuals who are committed to supporting local student/athletes, youth athletic groups and other civic organizations with financial assistance so that they may accomplish their respective goals and objectives.
