Marlborough – The Marlborough School Committee announced this afternoon that it has chosen current Saugus Superintendent Richard Langlois as the next superintendent of the Marlborough Public Schools.
According to a press release from the School Committee, Langlois was one of three final candidates for the position. Five candidates were initially interviewed out of a pool of 40 who were considered.
The School Committee cited Langlois's “proven administrative and instructional leadership track record in Massachusetts.”
“We believe that Mr. Langlois is the right person at the right time for the job,” said Mayor Arthur Vigeant, who also serves as School Committee chair, noted in the release.
Langlois will officially start once his contract negotiations with the School Committee are finalized.
Former superintendent Dr. Anthony Pope resigned in June 2012 after a tumultuous months-long battle with the Marlborough school community. Since that time, Stephen Dlott, the former superintendent of the Westborough Public Schools, has served as interim superintendent.
