St. John's defeats Shrewsbury in boys’ hockey

    St. John's defeats Shrewsbury in boys’ hockey

    Worcester – St. John's High School hosted its cross-town rival Shrewsbury High School (SHS) for a non-league hockey game Jan. 31 at the Hart Center on the College of the Holy Cross campus.

    The first period was all St. John's with goals by Kevin Quinlivan (assist from Bryan Nelson) ?and Chris Coveney (assists from Chris Adams and Pat Storer).

    In the second period, SHS scored on a goal by David Belbin (assists from Jack Quinlivan and Cole Vincequere) while St. John's was held scoreless.

    St. John's quickly scored twice to open the third period with goals from Connor Maloney (assist from Michael McGillicuddy) and Bryan Nelson (assist from Kevin Quinlivan). ?Shrewsbury did not let up however, with goals from Jack Quinlivan (assists from Belbin and Dan Quinlivan), and ?Cole Ambach (assists from Matt Dillon and Dan Quinlivan). St. John's hung on to win the game, 4-3.
