Juliette M. Chaves, 87Ashburnham – Juliette M. (Greeno) Chaves, 87, of Ashburnham, former longtime resident of Hudson, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at Health Alliance in Fitchburg. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Chaves Sr., who died in 2000.

Juliette was born in Maynard, daughter of the late Dominic and Generosa (Russo) Greeno. She resided in Hudson for most of her life before moving to Ashburnham. She was a waitress for many years locally, working at Filmore's, Sunshine Dairy, Copper Kettle and Dunkin Donuts. She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.

Juliette was a devoted homemaker and mother, and “she was the glue that kept her family together.” She took great pride in the raising of her 12 children and loved cooking. She enjoyed dancing, going to the beach and listening to music. She brought life and joy to everyone she met and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Anthony J. Chaves and his wife Judy of Westborough, Michael Chaves of Littleton, Dale Burns and her husband Greg of Broadbook, CT, Patricia Birchman and her husband Bruce of Washington, Pamela Chaves and her spouse Patricia Donahue of Pennsylvania, Susan Fischer and her husband Raymond of Rutland, Lisa Chaves-Francis and her husband David of Ashburnham, Marianne Stout and her husband Timothy of Hudson, and Cheryl Kelly and her husband James of Ashburnham, and was the mother of the late Donna M. Chaves, who died in 1950, Joseph T. Chaves who died in 1981, and Robert A. Chaves who died in 2008. She is also survived by her siblings, Pat Greeno of Hopkinton, Elvira Diedrich, and Stella Hornick, both of Maynard; her 20 loving grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 8 at 9:00 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Thursday, Feb. 7, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Juliette be made to a local food pantry of your choice.
