Algonquin girls” gymnastics continue winning ways

Northborough – Algonquin Regional High School (ARHS) played host for the Mid-Wach girls’ gymnastics league meet on Feb. 11 in Northborough.? The Tomahawks won the competition, besting high school teams from Shrewsbury, Marlborough, Hudson, Westborough and Wachusett Regional.

ARHS is the two-time defending state champion and was the league leader and favorite coming in, having established a state record last week with a 148.7 combined team point total.

Algonquin's Alissa Wood was the all-around winner, with a score of 37.8 narrowly beating teammate Chloe Herczeg, who scored 37.6. Third place all-around went to Shrewsbury's Courtney Ho who scored 36.8.

ARHS scored a team total of 144.8 to win the meet and the Mid-Wach title. Second place Westborough ?had a team score of 138.6, while Shrewsbury's team score of 136.9 put them in third place.
