Boylston – Paul S. “Buddy” Briggs, 73, of Boylston, died unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 in Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester. His wife of 49 years, Karen (Hershey) Briggs, died in 2007.
He leaves his children, Jeff Briggs and his fiancé Jen of Clinton, Timothy L. Briggs and his wife Christine of Shrewsbury, and Tammy L. Briggs of Boylston; two brothers, Robert Briggs of Barnstable and Thomas Briggs; two sisters, Joan Geneva of W. Boylston and Virginia Stark of Shrewsbury; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jenna, Michael, Timothy, Kayla, Jacob, and Emma; three great-grandchildren, Ava, Aidan and Austin; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Mary (Hicks); a sister, Beverly Stark; and four brothers, Henry, William, Vernon, and Kenneth. Buddy is also survived by his mother-in-law, Betty Martin of Worcester, with whom he was always close.
Buddy was a longtime employee of Aggregate Industries in Edgemere, a member of the Teamsters Union Local 170, a volunteer firefighter for the Boylston Fire Department, a member of Straw Hollow Engine Works club, and enjoyed restoring antique engines and tractors with his friends and sons. He was an animal lover and, despite his frequent objections, fell in love with (nearly) every pet his family brought into the house.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit Buddy's family Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m., in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. A service celebrating his life will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m., in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery of Boylston
