Marlborough – Sidney F. Forrest, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, March 14, 2013. Born in Crosby, MN he was the son of the late Raymond and Agnes Forrest. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Myrna L. Forrest, in 2011.
He leaves his seven children, William F. Forrest of Indianapolis, IN, Michael J. Forrest of Marlborough, Jeffrey J. Forrest of Norfolk, Sandra J. Simon of Milford, NH, Barbara A. Hogan of Rutland, ?Steven J. Forrest of Northborough, and Patricia A. Sanclemente of Berlin. He also leaves five grandchildren, Dale Hogan, Brian Forrest, Kristin Forrest, Taylor Hogan, Ava Simon; one sister, Evelyn A. Bedard of Crosby, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
He transferred to the Marlborough area in 1959, where he was employed by Gould National Battery. He worked for many years as a foreman with the Frye Boot Company in Marlborough, and later as a manager at Bates Shoe in Webster, where he eventually retired from. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He will always be remembered for his gentle quiet nature, his warm loving smile, and his welcoming open heart. He was most happy enjoying his life with his children and grandchildren and he had a passion for playing the lottery and tinkering on his John Deere tractors.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, March 22, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St., Marlborough.
