Shrewsbury – Laurie Bender, the owner of Home Instead Senior Care of Greater Worcester County and MetroWest presented a $500 check to Jean McMurray, the director of the Worcester County Food Bank (WCFB), March 14 at the food bank's headquarters. The monies were raised from a Facebook campaign the company held during the month of February.
During this campaign, Home Instead donated $1 to the WCFB for every time its Facebook page received a “like.” They raised $407 and added $93 for an even $500. Bender said they were ?happy to donate to the food bank, which uses 95 percent of funds received to assist organizations dealing with issues related to food insecurity.
McMurray was thankful for the donation.
“I always tell people, “whatever you donate is greatly appreciated,”” she said. “Whether it's $5 or $500, it's all equally valuable in our eyes because we can do so much with it.”
