Westborough – Children at Miss Tanya's Longmeadow preschool celebrated “Plant Something Day” May 15. The children helped plant flowers from Hi Hill Farm and a shrub from Wishing Wells Perennials into the area in front of their school on Longmeadow Road. ?They were also given a six-pack of annuals to take home to plant in their family's yard.
The planting was initiated by Susanne Wilkinson, the owner of Hi Hill Farm as part of the “Plant Something Day,” which was created by the Mass. Flower Growers Association and the Mass. Landscape and Nursery Association as a way to encourage planting throughout the state.
“It's just a little way to help kids get outside and plant something,” Wilkinson said of the donation to the school. “It will be something that they can then watch and grow and know they had a part of it.”
Both Hi Hill Farm and Wishing Wells Perennials are based in Westborough. Wilkinson's son-in-law John Wells owns Wishing Wells.
