Obit Danny StaniunasNorthborough – Daniel F. Staniunas, 58, died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at home from heart complications.

Born March 28, 1955, he was the son of the late Edward J. Staniunas, and was a lifelong resident of Northborough. He graduated from Algonquin Regional H.S. in 1973. Danny went on to earn a degree in Carpentry Supervisor through the State of Mass. and a degree in Tractor Trailers.

A machinist, builder, and carpenter, Danny worked at the MetroWest Daily News in Framingham for the last seven years in the maintenance department.

He loved walking the beaches of Cape Cod and Provincetown. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed kayaking rivers and lakes throughout the state. He was a talented musician who played the piano, guitar, and harmonica at functions, parties, and social gatherings. He also had a passion for small planes.

He became an animal advocate with his wife Cathy, aiding homeless cats and dogs. Danny volunteered for numerous food drives and donated blood for many years through the American Red Cross.

He leaves his devoted wife and soul mate of 23 years, Cathy (LeRoux) Staniunas, and a niece, Jennifer LeRoux of Hollywood, CA.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 22, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. Danny's funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Bernadette Church, 266 Main St. Burial will be in Howard Street Cemetery.
