There's no choice

052413 rsNorthborough-Southborough – When it comes to the possibility of school choice at Algonquin Regional High School (ARHS), school administrators say there is no choice but to say no.

The Northborough-Southborough School Committee recently voted unanimously against instituting a school choice program at the school. If the proposal had been approved, towns (other than Northborough and Southborough) that sent students to ARHS would have been required to pay the district $5,000 per student.

In spite of that, administrators voted against the proposal, they said, because the school is already at an all-time high for enrollment and does not have sufficient staff to accommodate an influx of students from out-of-district.
