Shrewsbury – Esther (Bell) Lindberg , 101, died peacefully at home Friday, May 24, 2013.

She was born May 12, 1912 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At age 2, after the passing of her father, she and her mother lived with her mother's parents, immigrants from Finland and Norway, in Austin on the west side of Chicago. After her marriage in 1933 to Harry G. Lindberg (d. 1990) she resided most of her adult life in Oak Park, Illinois. In 1991 she moved to Southgate at Shrewsbury.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Carter and Alice Lindberg (Northborough); three grandchildren, Anne (Charlottesville, VA), Erika (Waitsfield, VT), and Matthew (Princeton); and five great-grandchildren, Emma, Caleb, Nathan, Theodore, and Claudia.

Esther enjoyed travel, baking, Asian art and culture, and, most of all, her family.

Esther was a long-term member of First Lutheran Church, Berwyn, IL; then Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, Shrewsbury; and most recently, Trinity Lutheran Church, Worcester.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at a later date.

Esther's family is grateful for the loving care provided to Esther by the Assisted Living staff at Southgate, Hospice nurses of the Jewish Healthcare Center, and the nurses of Heritage Home Care.
