Shrewsbury – A Foam and Textiles recycling event will be held at the Floral Street School, 57 Floral St., from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, June 1. The event, hosted by the Floral Street School PTO and Shrewsbury Recycles, is open to all, including non-residents.
Foam will be collected for $1 per bag or $5 per carload. Styrofoam with the recycling symbol “6” is allowed and includes items such as packing foam blocks, take out containers, foam hot drink cups that do not have paper, foam egg cartons and white insulation sheets such as those used for produce and meat. (All items should be rinsed off and clean.)
There is no charge to drop off textiles. The Floral Street School will be paid by the weight collected so everyone is urged to bring their “BUG” items (Bad, ugly and good!); but all items must be clean and dry. Clothes, shoes, boots, stuffed animals, blankets, sheets, pillows, cushions and curtains will be accepted.
