Hudson – Argeo Paul Cellucci, the former governor of Massachusetts and ambassador to Canada, died today after a prolonged battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
He chose to go public with his story in 2011 as a way, he said then, to raise funds and awareness for the work being done by Dr. Robert H. Brown, Jr., D.Phil., MD, director of the Day Neuromuscular Research Laboratory at UMass Medical School and one of the world's leading ALS researchers.
Cellucci, a lifelong resident of Hudson, was 65.
